Fifty Three pounds lighter!!

Well, after a few plateaus and some loss of motivation for exercise, I have managed to lose 53 pounds!

The last month or so, I have not been feeling the exercise. I am not sure if its the mind or the body telling me I have no energy. Maybe it's the weather....ya, that must be it. I get a really good feeling after a work out, but it's a matter of getting out there in the morning. If I don't go to the gym by....say...10:30 or so, I wont do it. Even though I know I should.

Anyhow, I did reach a HUGE milestone: fifty pounds!!

Yes, that is a lot of weight. A lot of discipline and a lot of determination on my part. I am very happy about that. I have another milestone coming up, its the weight I was when I started dating Scott, SIX years ago......holy!

I bought myself new workout gear for the ocasion, and Scott bought me new Asics runners to workout in. They are comfy and very supportive. Oh, and my sister bought me a lipstick. MAC lip conditioner. So, my family is very happy for me and I have more energy now than I did last summer, that's for sure.

I could not go out of the house to run errands or anything for longer than 2 hours. All I wanted to do was come home. Period. That was so hard. I was TIRED all the time. Like wiped right out tired. And can you blame me, I did carry around 2 bags of flour all day long.

Fast forward one year, and now I am so much happier, (I have my days) for the most part, and enjoying my life more. We do more things together as a couple and I can stay out for more than 2 hours........

Smart Snacks

I have found few really SUPER low point snacks that I would like to share.

Orville Redenbacher's Smart Pop!

OMG!! I have heard about this stuff online for months. I could not find it anywhere...Today I found it (cue orchestra)! So, tonight with our movie I'm having popcorn. Soo excited! it's in 100 calorie packs that are 1.3 points for the WHOLE bag (6 cups) mmmmm!

Also,

Dairy Queen Fudge Bar

Folks, if you have not had one of these cold treats....I suggest that you do so. They are creamy and chocolaty, and by FAR the best cold novelties you can get. Plus, they are only 0.7 points!! What feels, and tastes like a 4 point treat is only 0.7!! They are also gluten free for people with allergies.

Hhmmm, can I think of any else?

Well, strawberries are in season, and they are only 0.4 points for a WHOLE cup! That has definatly been a staple in my diet for the last month or so. Of course, I keep the strawberries fresh in my Fridgesmart set from Tupperware!

Lots of Fun!

Cheers!

New Sunglasses!

I had Lasik (laser vision correction surgery) on December 20 2007, and I have been wearing the medical sunglasses they give you to go home in since. I had my 6 month follow up appointment today, and the left eye seems to have improved a bit. So, the healing process takes time. I am very happy with the surgery. I believe it was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. Scott (hubby) bought it for me as an early 40th birthday present. I know, I'm spoiled! He treats me extremely well, and I love him for it.

Today I talked to my opthamologist about good quality sunglasses. She did not have very many at the office. The only brand she had was Bole they are supposedly a good brand. But I have always had my heart set on Maui Jim. Well, today I got a pair!!

Maui Jim Turtle Bay, in rose. I went outside and got BLOWN away by the quality of the lenses. I was able to see so many more things because they are so much more clearer and crisper...now I see the world as I have never seen it before!
I'm so excited!!

It's all about the planning!

It's my day off, and we went out to do some running around. I had strawberries and a banana with 1/2 cup fat free yogurt for breakfast(4.4points). That's all good....then I lost it. We went out and I did not bring a lunch. Here we go, out of the house with no food. Not a good idea!! Of course , one of our errands was grocery shopping.

So, I decided to go to Tim Hortons to get a sandwich,...and a coffee......oh, and a donut (17.5 points). That's okay...I counted it and put in the points calculator. The only problem is, now I can only eat vegetables. Well, that's not entirely true.....I had a bunch of veg with a turkey burger for supper. One of my favourite deserts is fat free jello instant pudding made with 1% milk, so, I'm going to have that later for a snack.

That's what I mean about planning. I is so much easier to stay on plan when you are organized. That's where the Tupperware comes in handy. Get all organized and portioned out!

Staying on Program!!!

... I am sooo excited!!

I have been on program ALL week, even though my points range went down last week!! When I started Weight Watchers in October, I was allowed 36 points for the day (I think) and I remember, It was really HARD to stick to that many points for the day. I even went to bed early some nights after I was not allowed any more points.

Now, am at 29 points a day. It has not been that hard....I do funny tricks, like put lipstick on. I have a pet peeve about getting crumbs on my lipstick, so I tend not to eat with lipstick on b/c I don't want to get it all messed up! Also, another one I do is chew peppermint gum (sugar free of course) Have you ever had an orange after chewing peppermint gum? eww...

Plus, I have been drinking lots of water. The exercises is still not where I want it to be, but I have my first 3K race July 1 so I will be working out more this week.

Did I just say that I was going to race a 3K?

OMG! I have never been a runner. In fact, if the light is changing form a walk sign to a don't walk sign, I never used to run for it. I have missed buses and stood for more red lights than anyone on the planet, I'm sure. Hilarious! When I was in high school, in PE we used to have to run laps around the track. The teacher came up with this brilliant idea, every lap you walk, you have to walk 2. In other words, if he catches you walking, you have to do an extra lap. Lovely..! So here I was, long after everyone else had gone inside, still walking my "loser laps" that's what they called it.

So, fast forward to today and I am run/walking a 3K.....go figure! I am totally pumped!!

I cant wait to weigh in on Monday. A few weeks ago, I took all my 3X, 2X, and some of my 1X clothes to the consignment store. Most, if not all of them have sold, and I have at least $72.00 waiting for me. Then, I will take that money and buy more clothes. Yayyy!!

Everything Old is New again

November 2007 May 2008

I have lost 45 pounds since October!!

Thanks to Weight Watchers, and Tupperware. The truth is folks, there is no short cut to losing weight. The simple adage, eat less and move more. That's the secret. Portion control, exercise, and determination. It helps to be prepared when it comes to food. Having my lunch in ready to go packages (Tupperware) has made my life SO much easier. I truly believe that it has helped me with my weight loss. Sometimes I make my own entrees, put them into Tupperware and freeze them. That way I can control the sodium content and it saves money. That's what I do on a day off. Cook a bunch of food and portion them out into TW and throw them into the freezer. When I come home from work, I grab an entree from the freezer, throw it into the Microwave and, Boom I know how many points it is, and I am a happy girl!

I have an excel spreadsheet with over 400 food items that I have built up over the last year. The WW points are on all of the food items. When I go shopping, I come home and have a blast putting the food into Tupperware containers right away. Portioning them out, and storing them. Prep is very important to me.

Also, I recommend Dottie's Weight Loss Zone for food lists and so much more. The website Nutrition Data is also very helpful!

The new routine

Since the summer, I have been making an attempt to change my routine.

September 24th I weighed 274. My naturopath told me that if I eliminated dairy from my diet, then I would likely lose all kinds of weight. So, I stopped eating dairy. It was pretty easy once I found alternatives for everything. Off I went.....

Fast forward 2 months, I'm back at the Dr. office.....on his scale. I GAINED around 14 pounds. Well, I was absolutely devastated. "you told me that if I went off dairy, I would LOSE weight...not friggen GAIN"

I was a mess. Came home and cried on my husbands shoulder. I was inconsolable. After I gathered myself together, we had a long talk.

We all know that losing weight is a mathematical equation. Calories in calories out.....
I think that as humans, we tend to take the path of least resistance. Some magic pill or remedy to help us lose weight. Some supplements...yadda yadda yadda.....

Well, since that day I decided to go on weight watchers, and start working out regularly. I am allowed 32 points a day on the WW plan. I go to the rec center 3 or 4 times a week. I tend to use the elliptical trainer most of the time. Or the treadmill......sometimes both.

I have realized that losing weight is a lot of hard work. Nothing more. At least with WW, no food is off limits. I can have anything I want as long as I add up the points. If I go out for supper for a birthday party, I know what I'm going to have before I go.

The motivation for me is that I'm going to turn 40 in 17 months and I want to look HOT. I want to wear the clothes that I want to wear, not just whats available. Right now, I can only shop in two stores, Penningtons and Addition Elle. Oh, and Cotton Ginny. I have shopped at those stores for years. Well, it would be nice if I could shop anywhere I wanted to, not just plus sized stores.

I have lost 10 pounds so far.........it worked!!
